County Dance Festival 2013

Sixteen girls from Years 5 and 6 started rehearsals today for this year’s County Dance Festival which will be held at the Alban Arena in March. The dance, which is run as a collaborative project with Hitchin Girls’ School is being choreographed by sixth form students under the watchful eye of Mrs Maydom, Head of Physical Education.

As well as performing in front of over one thousand spectators, twice on the day of the festival, the girls will also take part in the HGS Gym and Dance display towards the end of the school year.

The County Dance Festival is a prestigious event to be taking part in and in previous years, we have had the honour of opening the whole Festival.

Today saw the girls introduced to the theme of the dance, A Night at the Oscars, and also to two of their choreographers, Hannah and Georgia. Over the next few weeks the dance will be learned, practised and polished and we will keep you informed as to their progress. In future weeks, the girls themselves will blog about their work on this website.

It promises to be an exciting few months.
