Hindu Temple Visit

Last week, Year 5 went on an amazing trip to the Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple near Watford.

Carrying on our learning about Hinduism, we spent the day immersed in Hindu culture; we learnt about prayers, songs and rituals, all within the incredible temple and its grounds.

Donated by George Harrison (of the Beatles) back in the 1970s, this incredible site has a working farm, a nursery, beautiful grounds with greenhouses and the temple itself.

We learnt about the importance of the cows and bulls (Hindu’s believe in a strict vegetarian diet) and even got to feed some of their precious animals.

As the day progressed, we could dress in traditional clothing and were lucky enough to take part in an actual service with music and prayer. We were then treated to an incredible lunch that we shared altogether before taking part in an interactive Hindu story telling.

A huge thanks to the Temple and the adults that came with us on the trip. We were very proud of how well the children behaved and immersed themselves in the experience!
