Year 5 School Council Hustings

Year 5 have been discussing the importance of British Values, and how we can be mindful of these at school and in our everyday lives. As such, both classes recently appointed their School council representatives, who were democratically elected.

Each class held a hustings, where candidates put forward their pledges to improve school life, in order to win votes!

The other children took notes during throughout, and were then invited to ask questions to help them decide who they should vote for. We talked about how it was really important to listen to each candidate’s promises, rather than just voting for their friends.

Children then independently voted for their preferred candidate.

Votes were counted and verified, and we now have our democratically elected School Council representatives! Congratulations, Jackson and Alice!
