Information from Mrs Driver

Thank you to the parents who came along to our Parent Forum meeting this week!

We are delighted to say that we received a favourable response to our new initiative – Talk for Writing. Please see the leaflet about this and how you can engage with your children on a whole range of talk topics.

Each Friday we will issue a new Talk Topic which will last for a week. We would encourage you to discuss this topic at home and it will form some of the incidental chatter around school. The whole school will have the same topic which will NOT be curriculum based. The children are not expected to write about anything they simply have to be able to talk about it. If the topic doesn’t interest them they need to be able to say why.

If you have any suggestions for Talk Topics, there will be a suggestion box in the school entrance foyer. Please read the leaflet and if you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to come and talk to me!

The two Year 5/6 classes are holding a coffee morning in school on Monday 9th June 2014 from 10.30 – 11.45. This is their opportunity to raise money for our compassion children in Uganda – Joel and Samali and they would love to see as many of you as possible. There will be a raffle and a crèche for younger pre-school children.

Before that, on Saturday, we have our summer fete! The weather is looking a little ‘dodgy’ at the moment but as this is our major fundraiser of the year I would urge you all to brave the weather and come along and join us!

I look forward to seeing you all at the fete on Saturday!

Yours sincerely

Mary Driver
