Winter Wonderland
Wow! What a great day we had on Saturday! Our Winter Wonderland was, yet again, a great success. The weather was kind to us and lots of people turned up to enjoy the wonderful food on offer and all the exciting things for sale! We were especially lucky because Santa took time out from his busy schedule to pay us a visit and read stories to some of the children. The whole day was a tremendous success and it looks like we have raised in the region of £5000 so a great big THANK YOU to all of you!

Parent Forum
Following our recent Parent Forum I thought you would be interested to know the matters we discussed. We discussed the focus for Talk Topics and how hard it is to find topics which are accessible to YR as well as Y6. It has been a while since we introduced the Talk Topics and perhaps they need a relaunch and the reception staff will decide which of the topics are relevant to YR. We discussed the different means of communication used in school and how different people have their own preferred method. It appears no system is fool proof and so we need to use a range of methods for urgent business. Once again the issue of driving & parking in the roads around the school grounds was raised. This an on-going problem and I will discuss with governors and the children how we can look to resolve this. We also discussed the recent behaviour strategy and the positive impact we are now seeing, and portion sizes served at lunchtime, both of which Mrs Driver agreed to look into.

Hitchin Partnership
The Hitchin Partnership are a Charitable Trust supporting families across Hitchin. Each Christmas they assemble hampers to send to families within Hitchin who will have very little for Christmas. As a school I have pledged 50 selection boxes and I wondered if any of you would like to help us with this by sending in a selection pack. They can be sent to the office any time and we will send them off to the partnership. Thank you in anticipation for your support with this.

Occasional day/INSET day
Please remember we have an occasional day on Friday 25th November and an INSET day on Monday 28th November. The school is closed to pupils on both of these occasions.

Please remember if you have any concerns do not hesitate to make an appointment and come and see me.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
