Holly class went back in time to 1666 and recreated the Great Fire of London. We started the day making soda bread because the fire started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery on Pudding Lane.
We then watched as the fire burned our Tudor houses! We tried to stop the fire with a fire break but it was too late and all the houses burnt down! All we could do was sing London’s Burning as the fire spread. Luckily, Samuel Pepys had buried his cheese in the garden.
We scooped some water from the River Thames and passed buckets along lines to see how long it would have taken.
Then the children wrote about their experience as a diary entry, just like Samuel Pepys in 1666. They all used lots of amazing adjectives.
In the afternoon, everyone made some fire pictures and we finished the day by rebuilding London with buildings, cars and boats.
