School skipping days

After the Easter holidays, the whole school took part in professional skipping sessions in their classes. This looked to teach all children how to do the basic skip, learn different skipping skills, increase fitness, learn some skipping games and work on their mental well being through physical activity.

The children (and many adults) fully threw themselves into the challenge set by the coaches and left their session with new skills and feeling fitter and better about themselves. (Not to mention a lot sweatier!)

The coaches that came in were very complimentary of the behaviour, manners and enthusiasm of our WR children which is always lovely to hear. It was great to see lots of children buying ropes after school and then asking to have the skipping ropes out on the playground at break times.

Our aim moving forward is to use skipping as a tool to increase fitness throughout the school and to offer it as an extra activity at playtimes.
