Spells and Bonfires!

This week our learning has been around the themes of Halloween and Bonfire Night. During Discover & Do we have had lots of enhancements in the classroom and outdoor area associated with spells and fireworks, amongst other things, and during Group Activities we have written potions and described fireworks. Below is a selection of photos from Discover & Do, Group Activities and Topic Time.

During Group Activities on Oak side the children completed a transient art activity to create firework pictures.

During Discover & Do both classes had the opportunity to explore using pastels and chalks to create fireworks pictures

We created our own exploding star fireworks, talking about and using the words ‘experiment’ and ‘prediction’. The children the explored the experiment independently during Discover & Do.

The children have ‘roasted’ real marshmallows on a bonfire they built, role played at the bonfire and even built a bonfire out of lego!

Children have been accessing maths activities and games during Discover & Do associated with spatial awareness, counting and pattern making.

Writing on Ash side this week had a spooky theme!

And much, much more!
