Today Class 3/4 saw what can happen to bones if they don’t have calcium.
The chicken bones had been soaking in a vinegar bath for two weeeks. The vinegar draws out and dissolves the calcium in the bones. As a result the bones had changed colour and had become flexible and squishy. Quite bizarre but intruiging!
A discussion followed about eating a heathly diet full of calcium rich foods. From this the children decided that they would eat more chocolate.
Mrs Burr denies the allegations of encouraging her children to eat more chocolate. She said: “Admittedly, we did discuss the milk content in chocolate and milkshakes, but I would prefer they drink more milk and eat more cheese and yoghurt as part of a healthy diet.”
