Wind, rain, snow and hail all in one week! Week 9 of Spring Term sees a return to winter!

What a week of weather! The children have been reluctant to be outside this week but inside there have been some enhancements to our areas to support our week’s learning on the book Blue Chameleon.

Below is a selection of photos from Discover & Do this week.

Maths work – odds and evens on the outdoor 100 frame, counting with the logs and ordering by size

Mark making and drawing – getting creative and honing fine motor skills

Opportunities for writing are not limited to our designated writing area – we encourage it in all the areas of the classroom, even outside.

Small world and indoor construction provide opportunities for collaboration and discussions, imaginary play, using new vocabulary and even exploring mathematical language and concepts.

The children continue to show interest in recycling.

The hairdressers was busy; closed on Mondays and Tuesdays apparently but appointments were available on other days so we were told!

Despite the cold weather some children took their learning outside!

An excellent example of how children extend their own learning and make connections in Discover & Do – having learnt about reptiles in class time, these children decided to use our zoo animals to sort into groups of reptiles and non-reptile animals.
