Class 3 make mini-beast hotels

Groundworks returned to school to work with Class 3 to make some mini-beast hotels to hang in the nature area.  We worked in groups of ten and took turns to make the 'hotels' out of bamboo.  Once they were finished we hung the 'hotels' in trees and bushes for the mini-beasts of William Ransom to visit and to hopefully take up residence!

Whilst waiting for their turn to make the 'hotels' the children combined their science learning with nature to make a skeleton out of twigs and leaves (and many other natural components found on the field!).  Once the skeleton was complete the next challenge was to label the bones of the skeleton.  Everyone had to lots of fun finding just the right sized 'natural material' to use for each bone!  Who knew that a piece of bark would make a perfect pelvis?!
