Information from Mrs Driver

Dear Parents,

We would like to have a Harvest Festival at school again this year for the pupils. We will have a celebration in a special assembly and we would like to assemble a selection of hampers/ boxes of produce to raffle.

In order to do this we would be very grateful if pupils could bring in one item of fresh produce to contribute to the hampers. The hampers will then be assembled in school with an appropriate mix of produce and raffled off to pupils and parents. The money raised will be sent to the Hitchin Partnership Hardship Fund, supporting families in Hitchin.

The assembly will be on Wednesday 30th September and we would like all produce brought in that day. I am afraid we cannot accommodate things any earlier as we have no way to keep them fresh.  During Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th we will sell raffle tickets for £1 for a strip of 5 tickets and the lucky winners will be drawn during Wednesday afternoon so they have their hamper of produce to take home that day!

Children will be able to purchase their raffle tickets in school on these days only. We will also have them for sale at the school gate on the Tuesday from 3.00pm onwards. If any of you have baskets or boxes from previous years we would be grateful for any donations!

I am afraid we cannot invite parents to the assembly as there is simply not enough room in the hall but we will try to film the assembly and put it onto the school website.

We hope you support us in this venture and understand the spirit in which this is organised. We feel that by children bringing in fresh produce they will have a greater understanding of where fresh produce comes from and the true meaning of harvest.

Let’s hope that we raise a substantial amount for a worthy cause.

Yours sincerely
Mary Driver
